Casa Veche is located in the village of Maldaresti, about 1 kilometer from the commune's town hall on the main street, and 3 km from the city of Horezu. The access is made on DN 65C (Horezu-Craiova). About the Maldaresti commune, the legend says that Tudor Maldar, a captain in the army of Michael the Brave, falls into the hand of the Tatars Khan, being taken hostage. The daughter of the khan falls in love with Tudor Maldar. He succeeds in escaping the Tatars hand and, together with the daughter of the khan, settled in Măldăreşti, where (in the XVIIth century) they build their home. Here are also the "Cule" or "Kule" of Greceanu and Duca, representing the fortified wooden houses through which the small noblemen defended themselves against the enemy assaults , the Turks coming over the Danube or the outlaws descended from the forests.
